Greetings to the members of the NYSSCPA Investment Management Committee, The next meeting of the Investment Management Committee will be held on October 10, 2018 at 9:30 am. As we discussed at our last meeting, this meeting will be devoted to a presentation covering the issues related to investing in cryptocurrencies and other blockchain related investments. There is much interest on behalf of investors and investment managers in investing in cryptocurrencies and it is our understanding that certain funds have taken positions in such investments. However, due to many regulatory concerns, the SEC has not yet approved any public funds offering such investments. The presentation will be led by Anthony Tu-Sekine, a Partner in Seward & Kissel LLP’s Washington DC office and will include Dan Nikci, Principal of Applied Fund Solutions and will cover the latest developments in cryptocurrency and block chain investing. Anthony has extensive experience in advising registered investment advisers in the issues related to investing in this asset class. Dan also has current clients who invest in such assets and is very familiar with the issues. Anthony and Dan will address the market environment, the latest current and expected regulatory developments, current ways to effect investments in cryptocurrencies, custody, valuation and other significant operational, regulatory and business issues. I expect that one specialized industry CPE credit will be available to those who attend, either by phone or in person. The meeting will be held at the offices of PricewaterhouseCoopers (see details below).
Excited to be speaking at the upcoming SS&C Deliver 2018 Conference in Las Vegas! “Crypto – Is the Juice Worth the Squeeze?” The institutionalization of cryptocurrencies and expansion of blockchain technology will see more entrants into the space. If you’re attending, would love to meet. SS&C Deliver 2018
